Prophetic Dreams and Interpretations God Speaks through Prophetic Dreams In God's realm, speaking to man through dreams is very normal. We should not be ignorant of how God uses prophetic dreams. In a dream God can teach you, warn you, impart gifts to you, guide you, and much more. Job 33:14-17 Amplified Version "For God (does reveal His will; He) speaks not only once, but more than once, even though men do not regard it. (One may hear God's voice) in a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, while slumbering upon the bed." The word dream (-s, -ed, -er) appears 123 times in the King James version of the Bible The phrase "vision of the night " appears 12 times. As seen in Job 33, it refers to dreams. "Visions of my head upon my bed" is found six times. Are all dreams of God? No, we need to have discernment and ask God. Dreams can be from the devil, your own subconscious, or from God. Jeremiah 29:8 refers to dreams "which you cause to be dreamed." In other words, dreams can be from your own subconscious. Jeremiah 23: 25-28 refers to false dreams from the enemy. Do all dreams require interpretation? No. You will see in this study that some dreams from God are very plain messages but I believe about 98% of dreams require interpretation. Again it is the faith factor. Just as Jesus used parables that required faith to understand, God will use dreams that require faith to get the interpretation. God prophesied to Jacob in a dream that he would give him the land on which he was sleeping and Daniel had a prophetic dream about the end times. Genesis 28:12 "Then he (Jacob) dreamed ... a ladder ... its top reached to heaven ... the angels were ascending and descending on it. ...the Lord stood above it and said, "the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants.. . I am with you and will keep you ... and will bring you back to this land ..." Daniel 7:1-28 "... Daniel had a dream and visions of his head while on his bed. Then he wrote down the dream telling the main facts." Prophetic Dreams Instructions and Guidance In a dream God showed Jacob about the speckled and spotted sheep so that Jacob asked Laban for only those colored sheep as his reward for the many years of labor. It was great business insight! Genesis 31:10" I lifted my eyes and saw in a dream, and behold, the rams which leaped upon the flocks were streaked, speckled, and grayspotted." In a dream God told Jacob to move to Egypt. Genesis 46:2-4 "Then God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, He said, `I am God, do not fear to go down to Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation there. I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again." In a dream God told Joseph to take Mary as his wife. Matthew 1:20 "Behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, `Joseph, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit."' In a night vision God showed Paul the need to go to Macedonia and preach. This was most likely a dream. Acts 16:9 "And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, `Come over to Macedonia and help us'." Understanding and Teaching about Prophetic Dreams God gave Joseph understanding when he recognized his brothers. God reminded him of the dream so that he would not take revenge on them. Genesis 42:8-9 "So Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him. Then Joseph remembered the dreams (Genesis 37:511) which he had dreamed about them. .."
